Advanced Certificate in Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy
Prerequisite: Current Participant or Alumni of the IPI Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Training
Dates: November 7-11, 2022
As you may know, Psilocybin is currently in phase 2 trials with the FDA. If all goes well, we could see access to psilocybin therapy across the United States within a handful of years. In fact, Oregon voters have already approved Ballot Measure 109 which will make it the first state to legalize psilocybin services in a non-medical model as early as January 1, 2023.
Training with psilocybin is not only advantageous for working with this medicine directly; it’s also an amazing way to sharpen your skills as a psychedelic therapist with Ketamine, and other medicines as they become legalized.
And, what better way to train than to get first-hand experience with psilocybin in a breath-taking destination near the Netherlands capital of Amsterdam? We’ve put together this exclusive retreat to allow you to do just that.

Who should attend this experiential retreat?
During this 5-day experiential retreat you’ll have the opportunity to rediscover yourself and break through emotional barriers…all while gaining the knowledge and insight you’ll need to offer this as a treatment option to your clients in the future.
This program is definitely for you if:
This exclusive retreat has been curated for current students and alumni of the IPI Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Training Program only.
Those who attend the retreat and complete the program will receive an Advanced Certificate in Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy.
What to Expect
Since psilocybin is not yet practiced legally as a medical treatment outside of research, you will learn the safe use of psilocybin therapy within a non-medical application.
We care about your well-being and want to ensure that you have a meaningful experience. We placed a lot of attention on ensuring the retreat feels safe, secure, and is in a supportive environment. We are here for you every step of the way – from preparation to integration.
Here’s an overview of what you can expect:
Preparation
To help you prepare for the retreat you will receive documents from IPI explaining the risks, contraindications, and expectations of Psilocybin. You will receive additional documents including a truffle dosing questionnaire, dietary advice, intention setting, etc. for you to review. Two weeks prior to the retreat, you will participate in a 90-minute online group preparation session. On day 1 of the retreat you will participate in an in-person preparation session.
Dosing
There will be two 6-hour dosing sessions throughout the week. You will have the opportunity to have a personal dosing session, as well as act as a co-facilitator for your colleagues’ session. The experience will be led by a psychologist, psychiatrist, and a teaching assistant. They will act as primary facilitators for the sessions so that you can relax and witness when you are acting as a co-facilitator and not receiving your dose.
Integration
Once your psychedelic journey is complete, we’ll help you to unpack your experience and learn how you can use the insight you gained from the session in your day-to-day life. To do this you will participate in an in-person integration group therapy, including art therapy, during the retreat. After the retreat comes to an end you will also participate in an online, 90-minute group integration.

Transportation and Additional Lodging Information
You’ll arrive at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, known for its historical attractions and colorful, vibrant scenery. Schiphol airport is a 12-minute train ride from the city center.
A shuttle will be provided on the morning of November 7th from Amsterdam Rai Conference Centre to the retreat location in Culemborg. While there are ample hotel options near the shuttle pick-up location for the previous night, here are a few we recommend:
You must arrive in the Netherlands 24-48 hours prior to the start of the retreat. This will ensure that you will make the shuttle, are well rested and able to get the most out of the experience.
Also, keep in mind that almost everyone speaks English (in addition to the local language, Dutch). So if you get lost or need some direction, don’t hesitate to ask.
Meet the Netherlands Team
We’ve partnered with a group of experts in the Netherlands who will facilitate this retreat. Each of them has a wealth of knowledge and experience within the psychedelic space and will be there to help guide you every step of the way.
Jeanine Souren
Jeanine Souren is a clinical psychologist and sexologist with specialties in couples and families as well as Chief Therapist at Field Trip Health in Amsterdam. Jeanine and the treatment team have been providing legal psilocybin assisted therapy for over a year now in The Netherlands. She also runs a private practice in the Amsterdam area where she works with clients from all over the world, offering regular as well as psychedelic assisted therapies for couples and individuals. Jeanine has dedicated her career to help repair, heal and strengthen relational brokenness and sexual challenges for couples and individuals. Jeanine has been teaching the 4 Large Group Seminars about psilocybin assisted therapies and completed her IPI training in 2022.
Hans van Wechem
Hans van Wechem has almost 30 years of experience in psychiatry and started his career as a registered couples and family therapist before specializing in (group) psychotherapy of patients with early childhood trauma and attachment disorders. After a life-changing psychedelic experience, he recognised the potential of psychedelics in therapy. He now contributes to projects such as MAPS in their efforts to investigate MDMA for the treatment of PTSD and has a wide network in the psychedelic community. His main interest lies in contributing to a future in which the use of psychedelics becomes widely accepted, both as an evidence-based treatment and as a powerful catalyst for personal and spiritual growth.
Marieke van der Spek
Marieke van der Spek is one of the two retreat owners, and works as a certified (ICF) coach and a psychedelic practitioner. Marieke and her partner Erik are the owners of the fruit orchard where they created a ceremonial space for psychedelic retreats. Marieke specializes in personal leadership. In 2018 she started working with psychedelics because she believes this a valuable tool to help people explore the obstacles that limit their personal growth. Marieke completed the full Psychedelic Practitioner training at Synthesis. She creates a calm atmosphere and a safe environment that makes it easier to let go of control, lower the fences and explore the areas of growth and potential possibilities. She does this in a soft, loving, curious and inviting way. Her central concepts are trust, love, attention, growth and authenticity.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be at the forefront of the Psychedelic Therapy revolution.

Ready to Train as an Advanced Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy Provider?
What Happens After the Retreat?
It has often been argued that therapists are more effective in conducting psychedelic-assisted treatments if they have personal experience with psychedelics. Personal experience could enhance understanding, particularly in working with clients to make sense of experiences very different from what most people experience normally.
As a participant in this retreat you’ll be able to use your personal psychedelic experience as a catalyst for therapeutic efficacy.
Those who attend the retreat and complete the program will receive an Advanced Certificate in Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy.
Plus, you’ll leave with the following skills and first-hand knowledge:
- The importance and delicacy of therapeutic touch
- How to embrace vulnerability
- How our sense of self is constructed
- How to deal with challenging emotions
- How psychedelic therapy differs from traditional therapies
- How to go about increased intimacy between client and therapist
- How to use your psilocybin experience as a resource
